Elizabeth Thompson is proof that there’s more than one side to a career in cosmetology. “In high school, I learned cosmetology fundamentals. During my senior year, I had an internship working at a Hair Cuttery salon a couple of nights a week. I got a full-time job there the week I graduated from high school, and I’ve been with them ever since.” Today, Elizabeth is a District Employment Leader for Hair Cuttery, recruiting for salons throughout the Northern Virginia/DC area. As she looks back on her high school CTE studies, Elizabeth observes that “they gave me a lifetime career as soon as I graduated from high school; I didn’t have to worry about what I was going to do—or pay for a student loan.”
